Albright Studios, with 85 years in the business, introduces students to the joy of dance in a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment. We provide quality tuition that builds confidence, passion, and personal growth.
We offer classes in Classical Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Contemporary, Lyrical, Hip Hop, Acro, Aerial, Commercial, Heels, Singing, and Musical Theatre. Students can enjoy general classes, COMDANCE exams, competitions, and an end-of-year production, making every year full of exciting opportunities to learn, perform, and grow.
Albright Studios was founded by the late Evelyn Albright, one of the early ‘Tivoli Gals'. Opening the Footscray dance school in 1940, she retired in 1968, leaving the school to her daughter, Carol Fairy, a highly respected teacher and Comdance examiner, known for her commitment to technique & having a soft, supportive teaching style. Principle of the school for 41yrs, she sadly passed away in 2010.
Carol's wish was for the school to continue in her honour, maintaining the name ‘Albright’ that she and her mother had established. Carol wanted the school to continue with a COMDANCE qualified teacher who had the ability & skill to prepare students for examination work.
Continuing the school in Carol’s memory, Leanne Emerson, a student, teacher and friend of Carols for nearly 40 years, administered the school until Tamara Finch took on the directorship in 2012. After a decade of inspiring and mentoring all of our students, Tamara handed down the school to Rebecca Wenig (Leanne’s daughter) in 2022 who is the current owner and director of the school.
The school has a very special family history as Rebecca’s Grandmother Carolyn started at the school with Evelyn Albright, then when Carolyn had her four children they all attended Albright under the mentorship of Carol Fairy. Rebecca, alongside her sister & cousins, then began tuition at the school with Carol Fairy. All 3 generations have remained involved with the school since, with all family members being part of our invaluable teaching team as well!
